The poets we have read and discussed in class focus on themes of racial identity, pride, perseverance, and hope.  Write an essay addressing at least two of the four themes you found in the poems you have read.  Of the six poets, choose three to write about (each poet has multiple poems that will need to be utilized).   You must include a works cited page and in-text citations.
